Seasonal Gardening Information for February

• Wisteria will need a second prune now, the side shoots will need to be shortened to a couple of buds and check the plant is secure for the windy days.

• February into March is a good time to give the garden a good tidy before everything starts to spring into life.  Clear and prune the dead back to give the new a chance to grow.

• Prune back winter flowering plants once they have finished flowering.

• Weather dependent, the grass may need a mow now.  This may be the first cut after the long winter, so set the cutting level high.

• If your herbaceous perennials have lost their shape, become too large for their current space or have been flowering poorly from the previous season, now is the time to consider dividing or moving the plant.
